To add more teacher content to our site, the SeedPD Blog is sharing one teacher-created SMART Exchange file every Friday. All files shared will be Common Core relevant, and we’ll be sure to share with you the standard(s) being addressed.
This entry is a file entitled “Division Bears”. In this file, students will use manipulatives and counters to learn short division. Written in the context of helping bears find the answers to division problems, each question asks the students to use the dots and circles to figure out the answer. For example, a question of 12/ 4 would yield 12 dots and 4 circles. To find the answer, students would have to split up the 12 dots into the four circles so every circle had the same number of dots. The answer is the number of dots in each circle at the end. Simple and straightforward, this file will be a fun way to practice division!
